My Approach

My approach is person-centered meaning that I meet my clients where they are. I help clients build thriving relationships that start with themselves.  I work with clients to explore the underlying nature of the problem and help them figure out how to successfully move forward.  My work with clients might involve helping them express their feelings, manage stress, trust their decision-making, find solutions to problems.  My style is very accepting, affirming and collaborative. I try to create a space in my office for clients that says, “I’m willing to be on this journey beside you.”

But sometimes life gets in the way. Sometimes this work means exploring past relationships and how those relationships (for better or worse) may impact who you are; together we can explore ways to create relationships where you thrive and do not repeat old relational patterns.

I might offer practical suggestions to support my client’s growth and development. But I approach this work knowing that my clients are the experts of their lived experiences.

I may use a variety of interventions to increase wellness based on each client’s needs because therapy is not a “one size fits all.”  Only when we feel good about ourselves can we build more thriving relationships with others. I utilize interpersonal, CBT frameworks, and also have additional training in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).  I sometimes integrate DBT to help my clients manage difficult emotions, cope with stress, and build resiliency to sit with uncomfortable emotions in order to become the person they desire to be.  I help clients decrease self-criticism and doubt, suspend self-judgment, and develop skills to manage difficult emotions.

Currently, I am licensed and provide virtual/telemental health individual and group therapy for residents of Washington DC, Georgia, Massachusetts, and New York. With in person office sessions offered in Atlanta, Georgia only.

Online therapy’s popularity has skyrocketed with increased health and safety concerns related to COVID-19.  Online therapy is a form of psychotherapy which occurs via an online video-conferencing platform. I utilize a secure, confidential, HIPAA compliant software for all sessions. Online therapy has many advantages, including increased accessibility, comfort and convenience. Research has shown that online therapy is just as effective as in-person treatments, and clients sometimes feel safer in an online platform.
